Day One

Hello, everyone! My name is Kim Pham. I am a Vietnamese seventeen year old girl who has lived in America for her entire life, but loves to explore other countries around the world, especially their different cultures. I find it very exciting and enjoyable to learn, or even better, experience their lifestyles and culture, such as food, fashion, etiquette, festivals, and music.
As of right now, I am at the Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston, Texas, U.S.A., waiting on my flight to Manila, Philippines. My family and I have been looking forward to this family vacation for quite some time now, because we have always wanted to explore other culture, but we only know of one Asian culture... our own (Vietnamese). We don't have any family in Philippines, but we figured that we can survive by talking to bilingual Filipino tourist guides and staying at a family resort for foreigners.
Well, I have to go; our plane is loading the passengers! I will post soon!

Day Three

After making the connection between a song from the Philippines and America yesterday morning, I was so intrigued by them that I thought I should look at the music and see what else they had in common, also can be referred to as a musical link. I couldn't post anything last night, because I was so exhausted from being out in the sun all day! However, after a good night's rest, I can post about these two great songs!
Both songs share a musical link in which they both conjunct (a musical term that describes the melody), as well as they are written in 4/4 time, also known as common time or simple quadruple meter, where the top number (4) indicates that there are 4 beats per measure, and the bottom note (4) indicates that the quarter note gets the beat. Another musical link would that the medium of the two songs are both vocal.
Harmony-wise, they both are in major keys, although the musical difference would be that "America, the Beautiful is in the key of Bb major, while "Leron Leron Sinta" is in the key of C major. Another musical difference is that "America, the Beautiful" is in the English language, while "Leron Leron Sinta" is in the language of Tagalog.
Another musical link would be that these two songs are homophonic, I'm which they have one melody line with chordal accompaniment, where "Amerixa , the beautiful" has melody performed with vocals (soprano, alto, tenor, and bass) with piano accompaniment, while "Leron Leron Sinta" is performed with one melody with  a vocal and a type of string instrument, such as guitar or ukulele.
Oops, I have to get ready to pack up to go back home. I'll post when I'm at the airport!

Day Five

I didn't get to post while I was at the airport or on the plane, but I was able to make it home safe. On the airplane? I decided to listen to "America, The Beautiful", because I was able to appreciate the music more now that I know more about it, such as the fact that both songs are conjunct, have homophonic melodies, and that they are in major keys. Plus, I missed America so much! I am proud to be American, which explains my  love for the song also!
